LAHORE: Hat-tricks from Tom Brodie and Mian Abbas Mukhtar helped Diamond Paints/FG Polo qualify for the main final of the Lt Gen Shah Rafi Alam Memorial Polo Cup as they beat Barry’s 8-5 in the first semi-final here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Friday.

The performance produced by Brodie and Abbas played a vital role in their team’s victory, as the scoreline read 5-5 in the third chukker.

Ernesto Oscar Trotz was the key contributor from Barry’s contributing a hat-trick while Hamza Mawaz Khan added a brace.

Diamond Paints/FG Polo took lead with a field goal which was soon equalised when Barry’s successfully converted a 30-yard penalty as the first chukker ended at 1-1. Barry’s dominated the second chukker by adding three goals against one goal by Diamond Paints to move ahead 4-2.

However, the winners bounced back in the third chukker, netting three goals without conceding any goal to lead 5-4. However, in the dying moments of the chukker, Barry’s equalised to make it 5-5. The winners, however, proved good both in skill and better horsemanship to slam in three more goals in the fourth chukker to seal victory.
