SUKKUR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl Sindh chapter general secretary Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro has said that JUI-F is not against the Pakistan Army rather the party believes that army is guardian of the country’s boundaries.
He said at a press conference at a filling station in Kandhkot on Saturday evening that his party was only against the generals who had toppled elected governments and intervened in state institutions.
He condemned the child-rape incident in Kashmore and demanded the rapists and their facilitators be awarded exemplary punishment. Shocking increase in rape incidents was because of the tyrant rulers imposed on the country, he said.
He said that centre’s excesses with Sindh continued unabated. Take for examples the residents of Kandhkot district, which produced natural gas and supplied it to entire country, were themselves deprived of the gas facility, he said.
Maulana talked about a conspiracy to divide Sindh and said that there was still talk of separating Karachi from Sindh. The centre desired to occupy Sindh’s islands and mountains through an ordinance but people would never accept the move at any cost, he warned.
He said the JUI-F had waged a consistent struggle against theft of precious stones from Karoonjhar hills which had the best quality granite in the world, and exposed the vested interests’ attempts to occupy the hills.
He said that economic conditions had become so worse that the poor could not even afford to have meal for two times a day. “That’s why we want to rid people of tyrant and callous rulers by making them aware of their rights and power of their votes,” he said.
Maulana said that after three successful public meetings, the Pakistan Democratic Movement would in the second phase hold a public meeting in Peshawar on Nov 22 followed by another in Larkana on Nov 26 for which preparations were already being made and organise the third one in Multan on Nov 30.
He said that if Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif’s statement was wrong then people should be told who had stolen their mandate. The movement leaders would meet next week to finalise charter of PDM, he said, adding the PDM was a formidable alliance.
