Eleven countries confirm participation

KARACHI, Sept 29: So far eleven countries have confirmed their participation for the IBSF World Snooker Championship to be staged at Arabian Sea Country Club for Nov 7-20, Pakistan Billiards Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Thursday.

Out of these 11 countries, five have submitted entries in both men and women competition which will be played side by side, joint secretary Arif Taherbhoy said.

Those countries which have entered both the event included Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden and India while Malta, Qatar, Singapore, Chinese Taiwan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) have entered men’s contest.

Former Pakistan number two Farhan Mirza will be representing Sweden in the championship, according to the entry received from International Billiards and Snooker Federation.

PBSA had already named their eight-member squad for the championship.

Team included 1994 world champion Muhammad Younus 2003 World championship finalist Saleh Muhammad, Naveen Perwani, Abu Saim, Atiq Latif Bakhsh, Imran Shahzad, Khurram Hussain Agha and Shehram Changezi.

Following countries have submitted the names of their players, delegate and referee for the global event.

AUSTRALIA: Vincent Calabrese, Steve William Mifsud, Robby Foldvari (men), Kathy Ann Howden, Janine Margaret Milner (women), Michael John Peachey (delegate).

BANGLADESH: Syed Mahboob (delegate)

MALTA: Simmon Zammit (men)

NEW ZEALAND: Alastair John Davison, Harry Herepo Haenga (men), Ramona Lannessy Sharyl Relmont (women), Ramond lifford Babgood (delegate)

QATAR: Ahmad Saif, Mohsen Abdulaziz Bokshashai (men), Mohammad Mubarik (delegate) Patrick Joseph Nolan (Manager).

SINGAPORE: Keith Boon, Ricky Chew (men), Manmohanjit Singh (delegate)

CHINESE TAIPEI: Chieh-Wei-Ku, Shu-Hung-Lin (men),

UAE: Mohammad Mustufa Shehab, Muhammad Al-Joker (men).

THE NETHERLANDS: Stefan Mazracois, Gennit Leij (men) Rosanna Lo-Tjong (woman), John Otten (delegate) Pascal Sars (manager).

SWEDEN: Farhan Mirza, Robart Lndell (men), Anne-Beate Ropke (women)

INDIA: Alok Kumar, Pankaj Advani (men), Pillai Vadiya, Thakur Meenai (women), Pushupati Nath Roy/R.K.Tandan (delegate).—APP
