PESHAWAR: For the first time in Pakistan’s history, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has installed modern automatic feeder ball throwing machines for badminton, table tennis and tennis here at the Qayyum Sports Complex.
The machine was installed by Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asfandyar Khan Khattak on Tuesday to equip the complex with modern facilities for sports aspirants of badminton, table tennis and tennis.
Sharing details on the installation of the machines with the media, the DG said the three ball throwing and feeder machines would help young children in sports get modern training through such latest equipment.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said, was the first province to have these facilities for shuttle throwing and ball throwing and feeder machines in badminton, table tennis and tennis. “More such facilities of various disciplines would be provided to players at different places [across the province].”
Khattak said it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan to have such installation of a state-of-the-art badminton training shuttle machine at Peshawar’s Tariq Wadud Hall.
The official disclosed that modern sports were becoming more and more popular.
“In the initial phase, we have purchased five training machines for badminton, table tennis and tennis at a cost of Rs4.5 million. More training machines will be purchased for other games also.”
Recently, he added, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Establishment Arbab Shehzad inaugurated the first electronic and remote control gym equipment at the Hayatabad Sports Complex Gymnasium.
“Moreover, old machines in the gymnasium of the Peshawar Sports Complex have been replaced with electronic gym equipment in order to ensure best international standard facilities to our players.”
