TANK: Every success, which we bag in the newly-merged tribal districts, is dedicated to our great martyrs, who laid lives for peace and prosperity of the region, said Inspector General Frontier Corps (South) Major-General Umar Bashir.

He was addressing the closing ceremony of the 25th Bat Baba Football Tournament in Jandola subdivision here the other day.

The tournament was arranged by the FC in collaboration with the Bittani Tribal Masharan. Over 50 teams from all across the country participated in the 35 days long tournament.

The Eleven Star Bannu lifted the trophy by beating Aatish Football Club Tank in a one-sider by 3-0.

The IGFC, who was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, gave away a trophy, Rs0.1 million cash and a 150cc motorcycle to the winning team and Rs50,000 cash and a trophy to the runner-up.

He thanked tribal elders over their support for the event and appreciated the youth’s participation.

Thousands of people of all ages watched all matches of the tournament and supported their favourite teams.

The security forces provided foolproof security to participants of the event, while a fully-equipped ambulance was there to handle any emergency.

The local elders thanked the FC for holding the event, while youth welcomed the initiative and said they would offer all possible support for such events in future.
