PESHAWAR, Sept 29: Four persons of a family, including three women, were killed and four others were injured allegedly by their close relatives over a six-marla plot of land late on Wednesday night in Kanday Moghalzai area of Tehkal Bala, police officials said on Thursday.
At around 12:15am, Shamshad and his accomplices came to the house of his late brother Rafiq and opened fire on inmates. As a result, Gohar Taj, wife of Rafiq, and her son Shafiq and daughter-in-law Farida, wife of Jameel, died on the spot.
Jameel, Ashfaq and Amjad, sons of Rafiq; Zakia, wife of Shafiq and their close relative Amjad received bullet injuries and were rushed to the Khyber Teaching Hospital. Ashfaq Jameel on Thursday succumbed to his injures, while the condition of Jameel is stated to be serious.
Police officials suspected that Shamshad had dispute with the family of his brother Rafiq over the land in Kanday Moghalzai area.
The assailants escaped after committing the crime and police have started search for them.
ARRESTED: The city police have arrested six activists of Pukhtun Students Federation (PSF) and students of Agriculture University after a clash with the students of Institute of Business Management Studies, police officials said on Thursday.
The students clash reportedly took place on some minor issue in the Agriculture University on Wednesday. Three students Saadullah, Akhlaq and Hamidullah also received minor injuries.
Later, the PSF damaged the university property. The campus police rushed to the site and arrested six students including PSF Chairman Sheraz Ahmad Khan, President Sayed Babar, Senior Vice President Waheed Qamar, Vice President Ishfaq Nadir, Farhan and Lal Zaman.
Meanwhile, PSF office-bearers of Agriculture University, in a press release issued, condemned the arrest of students and demanded their release.
They said that an inquiry committee should be constituted to investigate the reason of the clash and punish those who violated the university rules.
In a separate press statement issued from a lock-up, PSF President Sayed Babar has criticised the Agriculture University management for becoming a party in the clash. He appealed to the NWFP governor and education minister the probe into the mater.
