PPP accused of kidnapping councillors

LARKANA, Sept 29: Khushhal Pakistan Panel candidates for the Larkana district and taluka nazims have accused PPP leaders of holding their 150 councillors hostage and urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take necessary action.

The KPP candidates, Mohammad Bakhsh Arijo and Qurban Abbasi, were addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

They alleged that councillors had been kidnapped from Larkana and taken to Quetta, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi.

They said that 40 of their councillors were kept in confinement in the Defence area of Karachi.

They rejected an allegation levelled by the PPP that nine ADP councillors were kidnapped and said that only one person, Manzoor Ali Arijo, who was elected from the Arija town was missing for the last ten days.

The KPP leaders said that the government will seal the borders of Larkana during the third phase of the polls so that the kidnapped councillors would not be able to come back to cast their votes.
