They burnt tyres due to which traffic came to a standstill.

Sardar Buriro along with his five companions was kidnapped by armed men when he was returning Jacobabad from Nautal town of Balochistan on Wednesday.

There are reports that he was taken away towards Dera Bugti area.

Other hostages include GSTA leader Nazim Buriro, Mithal Soomro, Imam Bux Buriro, Yakoob Solangi and Mumtaz Buriro.

Several influential and veteran politicians and nationalist leaders have expressed their sorrow and anger over the high-profile kidnapping.

SNF leader Gul Mohammad Jakhrani termed the kidnapping of a Sardar a cowardly act.

Sardar Muqeem Khoso said the kidnapping was pre-planned.

Mir Aijaz Jakhrani and Mir Babul Jakhrani said the Balochistan government was playing a role of ‘onlooker’ over such a big incident.

They threatened that the Quetta-Jacobabad road would be sealed off if Sardar Buriro was not recovered within next 24 hours.

Talking to Dawn the DPO Sibi said Sardar had been kidnapped under a pre-planned conspiracy and police were trying to recover him safely.

He said we were nearing goal and was hopeful that he would be recovered safely within next 12 hours.

He said we would recover all the hostages through dialogue rather than through any operation.
