KOHAT: The three clans of the biggest tribe of the Junglekhel of Kohat have demanded back thousands of kanals of land, which their ancestors had donated for construction of a mosque and establishment of a checkpost to keep watch on the forest 50 years ago, from the illegal occupation of the grandchildren of the Ghamkol Zinda Pir.

Malik Ameer Khan, chairman of a committee constituted to take up the case with the authorities, alleged that the custodian of the Ghamkol mosque, Sufi Javed Akhar, who lived in London, had moveable and immovable property worth millions of rupees made from the local donations.

He recalled that the Zinda Pir had demanded a piece of land six decades ago to build a police checkpost to protect the forest in the area.

He said with the deployment of police the people, used to go into the forest for hunting and have parties, were not allowed to enter the forest.

He said later a mosque was constructed which had been turned into a huge shrine.

He said owners of the property also included orphans and widows.
