Paper leak probe moved to CPO

PESHAWAR, Sept 28: IGP Riffat Pasha has transferred the inquiry into admission test paper leak from the Capital City Police (CCP) to the Central Police Office (CPO), official sources told Dawn on Wednesday.

The IGP dissolved the inquiry team of Capital City Police and formed another six-member team headed by AIGP Masud Paracha, they said.

The other five members of the probe team includes SSP Investigation (CCP) Badar Farrukh, SSP Investigation (CPO) Arbab Fateh Gul, DSP Investigation Ghulam Mohammad Khan, Inspector Investigation Adam Khan and Sub-Inspector Investigation Husnain Agha.

The CCP transferred the case and shifted the accused to the CPO on Wednesday. Mr Pasha has instructed the new team to start investigation into the case afresh and not to spare anyone, sources maintained.

They said that the special branch was initially given the responsibility by NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani to arrest those who were involved in the illegal trade of leak out of entry test paper of medical colleges in the province.

Sabrina Tent Service had provided tenting facilities to the medical students, who came to Peshawar for entry test at the Karnal Sher Khan Stadium.

And according to the chief minister’s information, someone purchased the entry test paper for Rs7.5 million and later sold it out on different rates between Rs 1,400,000 to 200,000.

Police first arrested Sohail Abdali, who agreed to one police official—pretending himself as medical student— to sell the paper on Rs200,000. Later, they arrested two sons of Samiullah, owner of Sabrina Tent Service, Saad and Fahad, but released one of them as he was declared innocent.

“If we believe on the NWFP chief minister’s information that someone bought the entry test paper on Rs7.5 million then how the students can arrange Rs7.5 million,” a senior official commented.

Capital City Police Officer during a press conference three days ago had claimed that only few people got the paper on Rs200,000.

But sources said that one of the under-custody accused confessed that he had purchased the paper on Rs350,000.
