KARACHI, Sept 28: Mufti Munibur Rehman, a leader of the Ittehad Tanzeemat-i-Madaris Deenia Pakistan, said on Wednesday that the issue of the registration of religious institutions had been solved due to rational approach of both the government and the ITMDP.

“This is the first step. Actual issue is still to be solved. Our actual demand is grant of charter to the Tanzeemant as an examining university or giving it a legal right to conduct matriculation to master level examinations, like the Pakistan Madressah Education Board and the validation of madressah certificates,” said Mufti Munib who is also president of the Tanzeemul Madaris Ahl-i-Sunnat Pakistan.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that the ITMDP had submitted a working paper and had been waiting for a positive response.

Mufti Munib expressed his willingness to extend every possible support to bring the Madressahs into mainstream, and said “this dream cannot be fulfilled without practical measures and courageous decisions.”

He added that the Madressahs had included contemporary subjects, (English, mathematics, social studies and Pakistan studies) up to matriculation level in their curricula and was ready to progress gradually.

About recent accord between the government and the ITMDP, he said under this Madressahs already registered under Societies Act 1860 and Trust Act 1882 would be considered lawfully registered and they would not be asked to register again.

However, the newly-registered Madressahs are required to submit, at the end of next year copies of annual audit and academic performance reports for their registration, while an institute having various branches or campuses needs to submit only one registration copy, he added.

He further told newsmen that each Tanzeem would designate its coordinator on district and tehsil level which would submit registration forms of their affiliated institutes to concerned registrar.

“The madressahs will start registration process soon after approval of the Madaris Registration Act and we will try to complete the registration of unregistered madressahs by the year end. However, mandatory registration will not be applicable to Madressahs or Maktabs having no lodging facility”, he maintained.—PPI
