HARIPUR: Two persons were killed after falling into a well in a remote village of Beer union council here, police said on Sunday.

Beer police quoted Mohammad Saeed, a resident of Chajaka village, as saying that two labourers were busy paving the sides of a newly-dug well in his under-construction house when both of them fell several feet down after a cemented ring they were standing on broke.

The villagers made several attempts to take them out, but failed. Later, they informed the Rescue 1122, whose team retrieved the bodies of the labourers after an effort of two hours.

The police and family sources said the laborers had died of suffocation before the rescue operation began.

The victims were identified as Samar Gul and Rehmat Khan, belonging to Swat district. They were currently living in a rented house in the same village.
