Covid-19 anomaly

Published October 23, 2020

SEVERAL eateries and marriage halls have been sealed in Karachi over violation of Covid-19 SOPs. The government has also enforced micro smart lockdowns in various neighbourhoods of the city after a sudden increase in positive cases.

The restaurants and wedding halls are mostly visited by adults who are well aware of the dangers of coronavirus and yet fail to adhere to the SOPs. If the grown-ups are unable to abide by these rules, how can we expect from children of lower secondary and primary grades to remember and follow these SOPs in schools?

Before these educational institutions emerge as coronavirus hotspots and cause irreversible damage, I urge the higher authorities to act sensibly and close the schools in Sindh and elsewhere in Pakistan to save the lives and health of our children.
