SHIKARPUR: An outlaw was killed and his brother, who was also a fugitive from law, was wounded and arrested after an encounter with police near Allah Warayo Buriro village on SP Laaro road on Monday.

According to a handout issued by Shikarpur SSP office, a police party of Gaheja police station was patrolling the road when it spotted the two dacoits hiding by the roadside apparently to commit crime.

They opened fire on police when they saw them coming towards them, claimed police.

Police retaliated and managed to arrest the outlaws after a brief exchange of fire in which both the outlaws, identified as Mohammad Siddique Jalbani and his brother Ali Jan Jalbani, suffered serious wounds.

Police shifted the injured to nearby Madeji taluka hospital for treatment where Siddique Jalbani succumbed to his injuries and died and his brother was admitted for treatment.

The body was handed over to his heirs after conducting post mortem examination.

Police officials said that Siddique Jalbani, 30, was wanted in eight cases and his brother was wanted in 11 cases of heinous crimes.

They were residents of Allah Bux Jalbani village near Madeji town and police found two TT pistols and a motorcycle in their possession.
