DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A passer-by was killed and three others, including two policemen, were injured when a drug baron opened fire on police during a raid on his house here on Saturday.

SHO city police station Mohammad Ramzan said the police raided the house of notorious drug dealer Sohail Gandapur in Ghas Mandi area of Mohallah Qureshi Wala on a tip-off. However, he said the accused opened fire on the cops to avoid the arrest.

He said the indiscriminate firing caused death of a passer-by, Safdar Abbas, and injuries to two constables, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Marwat and Mohammad Ayub Baloch, and a civilian, Syed Masjud Shah.

They were shifted to the district headquarters hospital. Later, the police arrested the drug dealer and recovered a pistol which was used in the incident.

Meanwhile, four persons were injured when a blast occurred at a PSO petrol pump in Bannu Adda area on Friday night.

The cantonment police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. Later, one of the injured was referred to a Multan hospital in precarious condition.

Police cordoned off the area and gathered evidence. However, reason of the blast could not be determined.
