SIALKOT, Sept 26: Sambrial police on Monday registered a case against more than 125 persons, including several women, of Nagreywali-Jaithikey village for allegedly injuring seven policemen by pelting them with stones and bricks and damaging state property.

The villagers reportedly clashed with a police contingent on Sunday over construction of an outer wall of the newly-built Sialkot Export Processing Zone building. The EPZ building was also badly damaged in the clash, during which the main Sialkot-Sumbrial road was kept blocked.

The case has been registered under sections 147, 148, 149, 324, 336, 341, 353, 379, 511 PPC and 7 ATA. The police have arrested several accused and started investigation.

The villagers reportedly became infuriated when the EPZ management tried to construct the wall by allegedly blocking the only access to some villages in the area.

At least eight villagers were also injured in the clash during which the police baton charged them and used tear gas to disperse the protesters.
