DAMS: Kalabagh and Bhasha dams can only be constructed with the consensus of a national government having representation of all political parties, including the PPP and the PML-N.

This was stated by Tehrik-i-Istiqlal president Rehmat Ali Wardag while talking to reporters at the residence of Rana Ghulam Sarwar here on Monday. Senior vice-president Shad Muhammad Khan was also present on the occasion.

Mr Wardag said the country would face a severe electricity crisis if the work on Kalabagh dam was not taken in hand by the end of the current year.

He said efforts of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had also failed when she tried to initiate the work on Kalabagh dam by changing its name to Indus dam. She had also allocated the funds for this purpose.
