KARACHI, Sept 26: The Karachi round of the second Dawn In Education competition begins from today (Tuesday) in the Bahria auditorium. Over 700 students from 137 schools of the Karachi region are participating in the three-day Karachi city championships. The Lahore region has 54 schools participating and the Islamabad region 64 schools in the respective city championships.

The competition is for three age groups, 9-11 years, 12-14 years and 15-17 years.

The national championship of all the three age groups will be held on Oct 2 in Lahore where the city champions from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad will compete for the national champion’s slot.

The Spelling Bee competition is part of the Dawn In Education programme devised to extend the boundaries of the classroom. The first Dawn Spelling Bee competition was held in January—February this year.
