HYDERABAD, Sept 26: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, summoned the controller of examinations of the Hyderabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Tuesday along with the examination record of Ghulam Rasool Shah.

Mr Shah submitted a petition in the court seeking reversal of rejection of his nomination papers for the Umerkot taluka nazim. The returing officer had rejected the papers on the grounds that he was not matriculate.

Advocate Raja Qureshi said on behalf of Mr Shah that Saifullah Khalid had filed an objection against his client on September 15 that his matriculation certificate was not original. The RO sent the certificate to the BISE controller for verification and it was found to be correct. But on the next day the RO again sent the certificate to the same person for verification, who proved it incorrect said Mr Qureshi.

He argued that the RO and the DRO deliberately accepted the second report and not the first one.

The counsel said that his client could not be deprived of contesting elections on the basis of section 161 of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance and 14(3) of the Election Rule.

Mr Qureshi said that his client had passed examinations from the University of Sindh on the basis of his matriculation certificate.
