KARACHI, Sept 26: Sindh Minister for Transport Adil Siddiqui has urged the owners of coaches and buses plying on inter-city routes to make it strictly binding for their drivers to observe highway code so that serious accidents, like the one on Indus highway, may nor recur.

In a statement, the minister directed all concerned organizations, traffic police and highway authorities to take action without any discrimination to make traffic and other laws effectively enforced at Super and National highways.

Taking serious notice of the two traffic accidents in Jamshoro, the minister directed traffic police to launch a campaign against overspeeding.

In a statement, the home minister directed the police officials to take legal action against the drivers on violation of speed limit.

He said police must impose penalties on such type of offences and if any driver is found involved in over-speeding second time, police should take him into custody for at least 12 hours.

He also directed the traffic police to take strict action against violation of traffic signals.

Speaking as chief guest at the annual awards ceremony of Jam Nagar Wahiwarya Memon Jamaat here on Monday, Mr Siddiqui appealed to people to immediately report at “15” if they see anyone driving recklessly on Superhighway or any road in the city.—APP
