RECENTLY while travelling on the M-4 motorway at Shorkot toll plaza, an imported Japanese car came beside me while breaking the long queue of vehicles.

It overtook my car and went to the motorway towards Multan. The car had flashing blue light on its roof and sounded the siren to make its way ahead. All the vehicles and motorway staff gave way to the car.

This was so because the motorway staff gave an impression as if the person in the car was a bureaucrat or someone influential who deserved ‘preferential treatment’.

After paying toll tax, I tried to follow that car which must have been travelling at a speed of about 150km per hour.

The car kept moving with the blue light on and blaring siren without caring for the speed limit, intimidating other car drivers, forcing them to give way.

While the car driver was violating every motorway rule, the motorway authorities’ silence was unjustifiable and surprising. If the common citizens or even an influential personality will behave in such manner, nobody will obey the law.

The authorities concerned should take notice of this lawlessness by the so-called VIPs.
