Tharkyee clinches Administrator Cup

Published September 26, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 25: Tharkyee, a three-year-old colt, justified his billing when he lifted the Administrator Cup in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Carrying a weight of 8-10 on his back with jockey Fahim K in the saddle, Tharkyee led the pack of 17 horses in the six-furlong seventh race crossing the finishing post five lengths ahead of runner-up half-bred, Trust Again.

The day belonged to jockey Fahim K as in the very next race riding on chestnut, Miss Maree, he won the honours in a photo-finish, thus performing a double.

Four-year-old colt, Lucky Golden, had to settle with second slot following the official verdict.

Similarly, seven-year-old, Order Of The Day and bay colt, Hip Hop Hunk, were tied for the remaining two places and a photo separated them. The former was placed third in the final result.

Prominent horse owner, Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara, had a good day as both Tharkyee and Miss Maree were owned by him. Their trainer, Allah Judrio, also had a hand in the triumphs.

Earlier, Gul Muhammad Rajar’s two-year-old filly, Safari Queen and Mr Rehab Ateeq’s three-year-old colt, Secret Conquest, clinched the Youngster Cup and Tesio Stakes Cup in the second and fourth races respectively.

The next Summer Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Sept 28.
