Fazal’s heroics go in vain

KARACHI, Sept 24: Despite a fine all-round performance by Fazal Subhan, Ebrahim Alibhai Metroville failed to reach the quarterfinals of the KCCA Inter-school cricket tournament after scoring an impressive nine-wicket win over Niazi Star School at Students Sports ground on Friday.

Fazal grabbed three for 29 with his medium-pacers and later smashed an unbeaten 91 with eight boundaries to clinch the man of the match award.

Left arm spinner Fawad Khan grabbed four for 39 as Niazi Star School were bowled out for 144 in the 33rd over.

Ebrahim Alibhai School, in reply, romped home for the loss of one wicket in the 21st over thanks to batting heroics of Fazal. Shabbir Hussain finished 31 not out.

Meanwhile, the organizers also released the quarterfinal programme which will be played on Monday.

Zahoor GBSS face Qadri Scool at KCCA Stadium, GBSS Agro Technical meet Royal Academy at Student ground, Karachi School take on City Central Grammar at TMC ground and FF Public play GBSS Apwa at Asifabad Sports ground.
