Founder Group sweeps ICCI election

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: The Founder Group has swept the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) election for the year 2005-06. According to the results announced this evening, Abdul Rehman Khan of the Founder Group got 221 votes, Malik Saghir 221, Mehmood Warraich 217 and Munawar Iqbal 214.

While Sheikh Abdul Waheed of the Bhutt Group secured six votes, Shahid Zaman Shinwari three, Sheikh Pervez Ahmed 10 and Malik Mahboob Ahsan 16.

The total number of votes cast was 232, however, five were rejected.

Polling started at 9am and continued till 4pm. Later, returning officer Khalid Javed and polling officers, Sheikh Munir and Zahid Ali Shah, announced the results.

ICCI President Tariq Sadiq said polling was held in a neutral and peaceful manner, adding that there should be no doubt about the fairness of the elections.

He said the outgoing office-bearers had completed their tenure with commitment and dedication.
