GILGIT, Sept 24: Police have arrested at least six suspects in connection with a sniper attack on a bus that left two passengers dead and another two injured. Unidentified assailants sprayed bullets on the bus as it was travelling through the Baseen neighbourhood of Gilgit city.

The sniper attack took place near a check point of the Frontier Constabulary, but the FC personnel on duty made not attempt to confront the fleeing suspects or chase them down, according to sources.

“Therefore, the FC personnel will be investigated for their reported dereliction of duty,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, the Karakoram Highway in Danyore was blocked by hundreds of charged protesters in protest against the killing of the two passengers.
