BAHAWALNAGAR: The education authorities on Tuesday sealed two schools, the staff room of another institution and a department of the college in parts of Punjab.

Bahawalnagar CEO (education) Aslam Ijaz sealed two private schools in the city for not following Covid-19 SOPs. He said four schools including the Government High School in Lawyers Colony were checked and two schools were sealed for not following the SOPs.

He said the schools did not have adequate cleaning arrangements as well as not having masks and sanitisers for children. He said that the schools also did not maintain proper records.

He said no leniency would be shown to schools not following the SOPs. The schools would only be unsealed when they follow proper SOPs, he added.

CHINIOT: The District Education Authority sealed the staff room of a school after a teacher tested positive for Covid-19.

Officials vacated the school and sealed the staff room of the Govt Girls High School, Chak No 13 JB as one of the staff members, Kaneez Fatima, was tested positive. She was quarantined at home while other staff members and teachers were allowed to continue teaching and learning.

District Education Officer Secondary Dr Khadim Hussain rushed to the school to supervise the sealing and disinfecting activity. He confirmed that the teacher had been tested positive. “Out of 750 samples collected, we have got almost 50 per cent of the results in which only one teacher is positive while rest of them were declared negative,” he confirmed to Dawn.

BAHAWALPUR: The Government Sadiq Egerton College (Bahawalpur) principal announced the closure of college’s department of MSc (Mathematics) evening classes for a week after two girl students have been found suffering from Covid-19.

In the notice displayed on the college board, it was claimed that the health department had collected blood samples of the students of the MSc math evening classes. According to results declared by health department, two girl students tested positive after which the department had been closed down for a week.
