LAHORE, Sept 23: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) held Wohaib Club to a 1-1 draw in the Pakistan Premier Soccer League on Friday. Wohaib took the lead with a goal against the run of play. Midfielder Khurram Saleem beat former international keeper and NBP’s captain Zahid Taj after receiving a pass from Altaf Hussain.

NBP, currently second in the table behind Afghan Club, tried to stage recovery through front runners Sattar Mansuri, Akhter Rasool and Muhammad Ashraf but they failed to beat Wohaib’s keeper Bilal Rafiq.

Wohaib, 1-0 up at interval, could have increased their lead but for substitute Faisal Khan who wasted three great chances.

NBP effort for the equalizer materialised when Sattar Mansoori was fouled inside the box by Mozzam and referee Khalid awarded a penalty kick.

Defender Mehmood Khan made no mistake from the spot by squeezing the ball beneath the Bilal’s diving body. It was Mehmood’s second goal of the competition.

Meanwhile at Rawalpindi’s KRL Sports Complex, Khan Research Laboratoroies (KRL) registered their fifth win when they routed Pakistan Navy 3-0.

International Qadeer Ahmed, KRL’s best scorer in current show, opened the scoring in the 25th minute while Muhammad Qasim made it 2-0 a few seconds after interval. Qasim was again the executor in the 74th minute when he got his second.—APP
