TANK: Deputy commissioner Kabir Khan Afridi has said a proposal has been sent to the provincial government to solarize tubewells and replace 2,500 feet of obsolete water lines.

Speaking at a meeting of the civil military liaison committee (CMLC) here on Saturday, he said his administration and the public health engineering department had carried out a survey of the damaged tubewells and the water pipelines.

The meeting discussed and suggested ways for resolution to the public issues.

The meeting was jointly chaired by the sector commander Frontier Corps (south) and the deputy commissioner.

Local elders, including Malik Rifatullah Pattu, Maulana Haftay Khan,Pir Jahangir Shah and Maulana Mohammad Sadiq, drew attention of the forum towards excessive power loadshedding, scarcity of drinking water in the Tank city, motorcycle thefts and lack of sanitation, health and education facilities.

On the occasion, the army official said that an effective civil-military liaison had enabled them to tackle the challenges of Covid-19 and locust besides successfully implementing the Ehsaas Kifalat Programme of the government in the district.

He said efforts were being made to make functional dormant health and education facilities across the district for optimum service delivery and resource utilisation.

He noted that the Pak Army had installed water filtration plants in Manjekhel, Mohallah Maidan and Manazai to provide the people with clean water.

The participants demanded that elected representatives should be asked to attend the future meetings of the forum so they could have first-hand knowledge of the problems their voters were facing.
