LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration removed structures on both sides of the GT Road in the Naurang city during an anti-encroachment drive here the other day.

The operation was launched on the directives of deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb to clear the busy road of encroachments.

Local traders, transporters and pushcart vendors had occupied both sides of the road, causing hindrance to smooth flow of traffic, adding to the troubles of transporters, commuters and area people.

Additional assistant commissioner Aminullah Khan supervised the operation conducted by the tehsil municipal administration. The employees of the revenue department and traffic wardens also took part in the anti-encroachment operation.

Mr Aminullah told journalists that the administration would not allow anyone to run business activities on the roadsides. He said the operation would continue to retrieve state land from grabbers and illegal occupants.

SHOT DEAD: An auto mechanic was shot dead in Daulat Mir Lawangkhel village in the limits of Ghaznikhel police station, officials said here the other day.

They said unknown attacker(s) killed Gul Amir Khan with a firearm when he was going to his shop in Ghaznikhel on a motorcycle.

Alamgir Khan, a brother of the deceased, told police that he along with relatives shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital, Tajazai. The complainant said his family had no enmity with anyone.

The police registered a case against unknown killer(s) under section 302 of PPC.

GAS OUTAGES: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf office-bearers have threatened to launch an agitation against gas outages being carried out by SNGPL in Lakki city for last several weeks.

Talking to mediapersons here the other day, PTI Lakki tehsil chapter president Dr Mohammad Iqbal Khan and former district general secretary Ahmad Nawaz said the entire urban locality was hit hard by excessive gas outages and low pressure problems adding to the miseries of citizens, especially women. They alleged that local SNGPL officials disconnected gas supply in the afternoon daily and restored it late at night.

They asked the authorities to halt illegal gas outages forthwith.
