6pc R&D support to garments industry

Published September 24, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 23: The State Bank on Friday said that in terms of the ministry of commerce’s SRO919 (I)/2005 issued on September 9, 2005, the facility of six per cent research and development support had also been extended to the export of textile garments to Canada.

The permission is subject to the terms and conditions mentioned in the commerce ministry’s SRO437 (I)/2005 of May 18, 2005, as amended vide SRO611 (I)/2005 of June 15, 2005.

The support is applicable to shipments made on or after April 12, 2005. The list of eligible items is as given under Chapter 61 and 62 of the Pakistan Customs Tariff.

In order to facilitate exporters to submit their claims of exports to Canada, made between April 12 and issuance of this circular (both dates inclusive), it has been decided that such cases will be submitted by authorized dealers on or before November 30, 2005.

However, in such cases requirement of custom’s endorsement with specific reference of R&D support will not be applicable, the SBP circular issued to all authorized dealers said.—PPI
