THE National Highway Authority (NHA) is going to start work on the M-6 project (Sukkur to Hyderabad). It is proposed that if we install a solar setup on each streetlight pole and CCTV camera pole, the government can save energy as well as generate electricity for the national grid.
The M-6 project’s length is 296km. One kilometre is equal to 1,000 metres, so 296km if multiplied by 1,000, it becomes 29,6000 metres. If we divide this by 100 metres, because the average distance of poles is 100 meters, there will be 2,960 poles on each track. So there will be 5,960 poles on both tracks. This means that if a 150-watt solar plate is installed on each pole, we can produce approximately 88,8000 watts by the M-6 project.
Moreover, if NHA and contractors of the M- 6 plant trees along motorway before or during the construction of the project, this will be a huge boost to the tree plantation drive launched by the prime minister. This will increase tree cover and helps us fight climate change.
