KARACHI: Senior journalist Qaiser Mahmood died here on Thursday, family and friends said. He was 69.

They said that he was recently diagnosed with cancer and was being treated at a local hospital. His funeral prayers were offered at Masjid-i-Ali in DHA Phase VI and he was buried at Phase VIII graveyard.

With a professional career spanning over four decades, he remained associated with different local and international news organisations.

A large number of his colleagues from the media fraternity attended the funeral prayers. In a statement, the Karachi Press Club paid tribute to the late journalist for his professional services and honest character.
