ISLAMABAD: Chief Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed directed Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat to conduct the land audit of all cooperative housing societies, during a meeting held at the Jinnah Convention Centre on Thursday.

The chief commissioner, also the acting chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA), while chairing a meeting, directed Mr Shafqaat, who is the registrar of cooperative housing societies, to complete the audit of housing societies as soon as possible. According to a statement, the purpose of the audit of land is to determine whether it has any shortfalls with respect to allotment letters issued by societies to members.

There are over 100 housing schemes and cooperative housing societies in Islamabad and in most cases, their operators have used up the land reserved for green areas, mosques, schools, graveyards and parks. Some plots have also allegedly been sold without availability of land, thus, creating trouble for thousands of citizens.

Mr Ahmed directed operators of housing societies to ensure provision of plots to its members and complete work on development.

Earlier, the chief commissioner held meetings with representatives of the Association of Builders and Developers to resolve their issues.
