QUETTA: An anti-drug committee organised a big rally in Turbat on Tuesday against drug barons and their business.

Hundreds of people belonging to political parties and civil society marched on the roads of Turbat town, the district headquarters of Kech, carrying placards and banners inscribed with anti-drug slogans.

Many other processions, which reached Turbat from Buleda, Tump, Mand and Dasht, also joined the main rally at Buleda Jozzak crossing where a large number of people welcomed them.

The participants of the rally on motorcycles, cars and other vehicles chanted slogans against the drug barons, elements involved in drug business and local administration.

Addressing participants of the rally at Atta Shad Degree College ground, former senator Aslam Buledi, former MPA Fateh Mohammad Buledi, Shay Nazir Ahmed, Shay Ghulam Qadir, Ayub Jan Gichki, Barkat Buledi, Salahuddin Salfi and Sher Jan condemned ever increasing drug business and alleged that the government officials were also promoting the dirty business.

“Our rally is a message to drug barons and their supporters that the people of Makran will not allow them to continue this dirty business,” they said, adding that the drug barons would not be allowed to destroy the future of our people, especially the new generation.
