SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 21: Factory area police on Wednesday registered a case against eight accused for gang-raping a girl. Reports said that Munawar Bibi, widow of Muhammad Mansha, living in a rented house in Begum Kot, had submitted an application with the Badami Bagh police station, Lahore, on April 7, 2005. In her plaint, she said that she had found her daughter missing when she returned home in the evening. She said that she had searched her daughter everywhere, but she could find her no traces.

However, the complainant alleged that Muhammad Riaz and others had informed her the same day that they saw Muhammad Shafiq and his accomplices taking away her daughter by a car. On April 14, she said her daughter returned telling her that Shafiq along with his seven accomplices took her to a house in Polka factory where they gang-raped her.

On her report, the Badami Bagh police, Lahore, had registered a rape case against the accused. Later, the Lahore SP (Investigation) had dismissed the case as the incident occurred in the limits of Factory Area police station, Sheikhupura.

Police sources said the Badami Bagh police had investigated the matter and got conducted the medical examination of the victim. The victim had been produced before the area magistrate on May 26.

In her statement before the magistrate, they said the victim had stated that five accused entered her house, took her away by a car, kept her near Polka factory chowk where three more people were also present. She said all of them had subjected her to gang-rape for eight days.

Meanwhile, Sheikhupura DPO Syed Ibne Hasan said the case was being probed by the investigation cell in charge of the Factory Area police. He said the police had arrested accused Munir Ahmad while raids were being conducted for the arrest of his accomplices.
