GUJRANWALA, Sept 21: PML MPA from Naushera Virkan, Chaudhry Amanat Ali Virk, and MNA Hamid Nasir Chattha on Wednesday ironed out their differences following which the former announced his support for the latter’s son, Fiaz Ahmad Chattha, for the district nazim slot.
Reports said both the leaders were reconciled by MPA Mudassar Qayyum Nahara on the directions of the Punjab chief minister.
Meanwhile, the ruling party and ARD aspirants for the district and town nazim slots are installing huge election hoardings in and around the city in violation of code of conduct.
The PML has installed large hoardings at Rawalpindi by-pass intersection, Gondlanwala Chowk, Sialkot road and GT Road carrying the photographs of the candidates to attract people’s attention. Similarly, the ARD-backed aspirants have also installed huge billboards on GT Road and other parts of the city.
Neither Election Commission, nor the district administration had yet taken any action against these aspirants on charge of code of conduct violation.
A returning officer said aspirants for district and town nazim slots were allowed to spend Rs500,000 and Rs300,000 on their campaigns, respectively.
