Three held for posting hate material on social media

TAXILA: The Attock police have arrested three people for posting hate material against other sects on social media.

Police sources said that three persons were arrested by Bassal, Attock Saddar and Jand Police who uploaded posts carrying defamatory remarks against a particular sect.

According to police, this crackdown was launched as part of an effort to check sectarian posts on social media.

Man drowns

A 17-year-old boy drowned in Indus River near village Haroon in limits of Hazro police station on Saturday.

Police and hospital sources said Aziz Khan went to the river to enjoy bathing along with friends where he went deep in the waters and drowned. Later local rescuers retrieved his body and shifted it to THQ hospital. Hazro police have registered a case and started further investigation.

Two robbers’ gang busted

The Wah Cantonment police on Saturday claimed to have busted two gangs of robbers and arrested six of their members besides recovering of looted items worth millions of rupees. Potohar Division SP Syed Ali while addressing media persons said one gang was involved in various robberies in different areas of the district.

He said looted items worth Rs600,000 and arms were also recovered from the gang.

The SP also revealed that the same team also busted a two-member gang in a separate successful operation against the anti-social elements and recovered looted items, arms and ammunition.
