Sima Kamil appointed SBP deputy governor

KARACHI: The federal government on Tuesday night notified the appointment of Sima Kamil as deputy governor of the State Bank of Pakistan for a period of three years with immediate effect.

Ms Kamil is a veteran banker, having last held the post of president and CEO of UBL, one of the largest banks of Pakistan, from June 2017 till June 2020. Prior to UBL, she held various senior positions at HBL. News of her appointment had been circulating for a while now.

Congratulations to very qualified candidate for this position, Overseas Pakistani's hope she will exempt Nicop holders accounts becoming Dormant every 6 months since Overseas Pakistani's cannot comes with wife and husband together to provide thumb impressions to reopen accounts every six months .

MS: Kamil has seen/ done public sector lending in the country. Hope that she will recommend certain change in legislation for such defaulters. Huge amount is stuck in these assets. Defaulters taking refuge against stay orders.Litigation beneficiary is lawyers. Banks should be given the custody to sell to new buyers. These units can generate employment and contribute to economy. What is the use of having first charge on assets?Clear such defaulters and make friendly laws for genuine borrowers.
