Sports Club enter semifis

PESHAWAR, Sept 20: Sports Club entered semifinals after defeating Gymkhana Stars by three runs in the 1st Shah Jee Gold Cup cricket tournament at Gymkhana ground on Tuesday. Batting first, after Gymkhana Stars skipper Fazal Akbar Shah invited them to bat, Sports Club scored 190 runs all out in 30.1 overs.

Haroon Rashid struck 35 off 55 balls with two boundaries, Samad was not-out on 28 off 33 balls with one boundary, Tariq Afridi hit 43 off 51 with five boundaries and two towering sixes. Riaz Kail (20), Naveed Afridi (22) and Najeeb (19) were the other contributors.

Fazal Akbar picked three wickets, Hadee two for 34 runs and Tahir, Nadeem, Hamad Hussain, Majid and Fayyaz grabbed one wicket each.

In reply, Gymkhana Stars were bowled out for 188 runs. Tail-ender Hamadul Hasan struck 71 off 61 balls with seven boundaries. Tahir Pervaiz scored 29, Fayyazullah 18 and Kashif Hayat 19.

Left-arm spinner Jibran Khan claimed four for 20 runs while Gul Riaz, Riaz Khan and Tariq grabbed one wicket each.—APP
