GWADAR: Hundreds of political workers, members of civil society and human rights activists marched on different roads of Gwadar on Saturday in protest against an incident in Turbat in which a university student was killed reportedly by a soldier of the Frontier Corps.

Hayat Mirza, also known as Hayat Baloch, was a student of the University of Karachi. The tragic incident took place after a bomb attack on an FC convoy.

Carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands, the protesters marched on different roads of the city and later gathered at Jewani Chowk.

They also chanted slogans against the government.

Addressing the protesters, Abid Sohrabi, Balaach Qadir, Sadaf Mirza, Makran Bar Association president Mehrab Khan Gichki, Gwadar Bar Association president Mohammad Sadiq Zamrani, Arifa Abdullah and others condemned the Turbat incident and termed the killing a barbaric act.

They called for a judicial inquiry into the murder, saying that the Turbat incident was not a simple one.

They said the incident was the result of a particular mindset, as many incidents had taken place in different areas of Balochistan in which innocent people had been killed.

The speakers demanded that the family of Hayat Mirza be provided justice and said steps should be taken to stop such incidents in future.
