QUETTA, Sept 20: Three powerful blasts rocked Quetta on Tuesday night when explosive devices went off in different areas of the city. However, there were no reports of casualties, police sources said. One of the bombs exploded close to the house of a provincial minister. Another was planted close to a shrine. No-one was present in the shrine at the time of the explosion, police sources said.

“Home-made bombs were used in all the three explosions,” a senior police officer told Dawn.

According to reports, the first blast took place in the Killi Qambrani area of Sariab road late in the evening. The window panes of nearby houses were badly damaged.

The second explosion was reported in the Brewery Road area. Sources said the bomb was planted near a house.

The third bomb exploded in a rubbish bin close to the private residence of provincial Revenue Minister Mir Mohammad Asim Kurd.

The window panes of many houses, including the minister’s home, were shattered. No other loss was reported in the blast.

The provincial minister was not home at the time of the blast.
