KARACHI, Sept 20: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has exhorted the officials of health and population welfare departments to ensure practical steps for implementation of their projects. He issued the directive while reviewing the performance of contraceptive programme of population welfare department at a meeting on Tuesday. Secretaries of health and population welfare department and other senior officials attended the meeting.

It was decided that district technical committees, set up under EDOs Health in 13 districts of Sindh, would hold regular meetings every month and the minutes thereof sent to chief secretary for perusal.

It was pointed out that service delivery impact of all projects including EPI would be connected with performance evaluation of concerned officials.

The meeting decided that not only the performance of existing 139 family welfare centres would be made effective but the rural and basic health centres would also be activated and the number of family welfare centres would be increased as per the target.

The chief secretary called for adopting a concrete strategy for stable performance and working of all the ongoing projects and removing the shortcomings and problems by promoting mutual liaison. —APP
