KARACHI: Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s meeting with the first lady of Turkey, Emine Erdogan made headlines and took over top social media trends on Monday morning.

While the photos got fans excited about the actor’s film, Laal Singh Chaddha, trolls went all out criticising his meeting with “enemies of INDIA.”

The first lady shared photos with the actor on her official Twitter handle with a note that read, “I had the great pleasure of meeting @aamir_khan, the world-renowned Indian actor, filmmaker, and director, in Istanbul. I was happy to learn that Aamir decided to wrap up the shooting of his latest movie `Laal Singh Chaddha’ in different parts of Turkey. I look forward to it!”

Shortly after her tweet, the #AamirKhan began trending on social media. While trolls took potshots at the actor, meme-makers had a field day sharing some hilarious Bollywood-inspired memes.

For those unaware, the trolling follows Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s stand on the Kashmir issue, voicing his country’s support to Pakistan, stating that it can be resolved not through conflict or oppression but on the basis of justice and fairness.

The shooting of Laal Singh Chaddha was brought to a grinding halt following the announcement of a nationwide lockdown, to curb the Covid-19 crisis. The film that was initially set for a year-end 2020 release, has now been postponed to next year.

The film that is an official adaptation of the Tom Hanks starrer, Forrest Gump, will also feature Kareena Kapoor Khan in a pivotal role.
