Rs300m for sports facilities

GUJRANWALA, Sept 19: The Punjab government has approved Rs300 million for the construction of indoor and outdoor sports facilities in major cities of the province, says secretary sports Muhammad Arshad Bhatti on Monday.

He told a meeting that a stadium and a swimming pool would be constructed in Lahore and gymnasiums in 10 cities of the province. Steps would be taken to establish a sports complex in Gujranwala, he said.

District Coordination Officer Gujranwala, Khalid Masood Chaudhry informed the meeting that Rs40 million would be spent on laying Astroturf in the hockey stadium and Rs30 million on renovation work at the sports complex.

A gymnasium would be constructed at a cost of Rs70 million in Gujranwala, he said.—APP
