PESHAWAR, Sept 19: People of Dabgari on Monday staged a demonstration outside the press club protest against supply of contaminated water to the area and asked the authorities to solve the problem.

Dabgari union council’s nazim elect Dr Liaquat Khan led the demonstration and criticized the district government for ignoring the demand of the residents. He said the Dabgari Garden area was famous of its clinics and hospitals, where hundreds of patients arrived daily from all parts of the province for treatment. He said residents of the area were constrained to use polluted water as they had no alternative source of water.

The protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the district authorities. They raised slogans against the district government.

Talking to the journalists, Dr Khan asked the provincial government to take notice of the situation. He said the provincial government was busy in matters related to local body elections and it had no time to solve the problem.

Pakistan Medical Association president Dr Omar Ayub also urged the provincial government to solve the problem at the earliest.
