CHAKWAL, Sept 19: District Returning Officer Mirza Rafiuz Zaman on Monday rejected the nomination papers of Lt-Gen (retired) Abdul Majeed Malik for the slot of district nazim.

Sardar Ghulam Abbas, who is also a candidate for the office of district nazim, had filed an appeal on September 16 against the acceptance of Mr Malik’s nomination papers. The appeal in which Ghulam Abbas had raised objections to Majeed Malik’s matriculation certificate was heard on Monday.

The DRO after hearing the arguments of both sides accepted the appeal and rejected the nomination papers of Mr Malik.

Meanwhile, Majeed Malik told reporters that he would challenge the decision in the superior courts.—APP
