KARACHI, Sept 18: The defiant anti-social elements are selling fire crackers and other explosives illegally imported from a neighbouring country openly right from Mochko to New Karachi and Defence to Landhi as the holiest night “Shab-i-Baraat” draws near.

According to complaints from general public, in defiance of orders and directives issued by Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui and orders of Inspector General Police Asad Jehangir to police officials, the anti-social elements are selling mega explosives named “Asmani Patakha” (sky bomb) as it explodes going up to 50 feet above ground level, Kalashnikov patti (as it explodes like serial/ automatic fire from a Kalashnikov rifle) and other explosives including China bombs.

The sale is on from small grocery shops, makeshift stalls at main markets and pushcart vendors without any fear of action from local area police.

The general public identifying the areas of major sale named Mochko Chowk in Baldia, Juria Bazaar in Saddar, Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi, Supermarket in Liaquatabad, Hyderi Market in North Nazimabad, Gol Market in Nazimabad and hundreds of other places.

Residents of different areas appealed to the home minister to ensure that his orders are implemented and to bound police officials on patrolling duty to take action on their own instead of waiting for complaints from public as huge explosions are creating scare among devotees preparing to observe the holiest night with reverence. —-APP
