KARACHI: Young girl killed

KARACHI, Sept 18: A young girl died after she was hit by a bullet fired by her brother at their sister’s wedding in Lines Area late on Saturday night. Naseem Naz Fatima, 18, suffered a bullet wound when her brother, Noor Mustafa Alvi, 22, was firing with a pistol in the Magistrate Complex in Jacob lines.

Police said a bullet stuck in the chamber during firing, and as Alvi was trying to adjust it, the pistol went off hitting his younger sister.

She was rushed to Civil Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police have arrested Alvi and lodged an FIR on the complaint of his elder brother.

SUICIDE: A policeman committed suicide in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday.

Police said ASI Azhar Ali, 40, shot himself in front of NIPA traffic kiosk. The policeman used his service pistol to shoot himself in the temple. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Azhar Ali was without posting for a considerable time and it seems that he ended his life out of frustration and financial difficulties. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

ENCOUNTER: The police foiled a kidnapping bid on Sunday and recovered two doctors.

Dr Kamal Sammo and Dr Mubashir had gone to seaside in their Honda City where four armed men made them hostage and demanded Rs0.5million as ransom. The police tried to stop the vehicle near the Golf Club picket.
