QUETTA: The Balochistan National Party (BNP) on Wednesday filed a petition in the court of the judicial magistrate of Quetta against federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed over his remarks against Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

Advocate Sajid Tareen, who is also a leader of the party, filed the petition under sections 499, 500, 503 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Mr Ahmed for using derogatory and objectionable language against the BNP chief who is also a member of the National Assembly.

Mr Tareen pleaded in the court that the federal minister had humiliated the people of Balochistan by disrespecting Mr Mengal.

Mr Ahmed used inappropriate remarks and bitterly criticised Mr Mengal after he parted ways with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s federal government.
