PESHAWAR, Sept 16: The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, said on Friday that the 7th Wage Award would be implemented after the parliamentary committee headed by Pakistan Muslim League chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain submits its final report.

Speaking at the concluding session of a three-day photographic exhibition by the Photo-Journalists Forum (PJF) at the Peshawar Press Club, Senator Anisa said the government was trying its best to resolve the problems of working journalists and other newspapers employees.

The parliamentary committee has ascertained the views of both the employees’ representatives and newspapers owners and it would soon submit its report to the prime minister for its early implementation, she said.

Sen Anisa also praised the work of photographers who had won a competition and said the government would organise training workshops for them. She observed that a good photograph was worth more than a thousand words.

She expressed hope that the Peshawar Press Club would also organise such competitions for photographers at the provincial level in future.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the head of the Sarhad Olympic Association Aaqil Shah inaugurated the three-day exhibition and urged the PJF to organise exhibitions on sport photography as well.

Later, the minister distributed cash, shields and certificates amongst the winners. Naeem Akhtar and Abdul Majeed Goraya were awarded the first and second prizes respectively. Sen Anisa Zeb also announced a grant of Rs100,000 for the PJF.
